‘Varanus’, or Gugaa in Wiradjuri is a giant goanna sculpture by artist Glenn Star at the Gum Swamp Bird Hide, Forbes NSW. This magnificent sculpture is part of the Sculpture Down the Lachlan public art trail. Alieen tells us why Gum Swamp is such a special place and what Gugaa means to her.

Get back to nature and to spend some time at Gum Swamp Wetlands. It's so wonderful to have this natural haven so close to the township of Forbes. This nationally significant wetland provides a rich habitat for an abundance of wildlife and birdlife which is well worth a visit.
